Life of King David

Life of King David: King David was the eighth son of Jesse. They belonged to the tribe of Judah. He was more than a musician. He was known for his touching psalms, illicit relations with Bathsheba, his passion for God, expertise in warfare, ancestral connection to Jesus and his good looks. He was a former shepherd and according to biblical tradition, he was the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel. His period is claimed to be the golden age of Israel. He reigned for 40 years just like King Saul, his reign was most prosperous in the Israel history.

King Saul offered his eldest daughter’s hand for marriage. David didn’t decline his offer but thanked him for considering him to become a part of his family. After getting knowledge of his younger daughter’s love for David, King Saul gave her hand to him in marriage. King David is said to cement his political alliances via marriages. Other than Merab, King Saul’s daughter, David married Maacah, the daughter of Zalmay, king of Geshur; Abital; Haggith; Abigail, the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and Eglah. Many list his expanse of children from various wives and concubines.

King Saul jealousy towards King David

King Saul lost his kingdom to his own insecurities and to his jealousy towards David. He started to fear David as his rival. Whenever someone would praise David’s capabilities King Saul would feel envy towards his achievements. Soon this envy turned into jealousy and David had to flee for his life. King Saul married her daughter, Merab, to another in the absence of David. Jonathon, Saul’s son tries to reason with his father on David’s behalf but Saul slashes him. He comes to know of his father’s insane mind. King Saul’s mental health starts wearing because of his insecurities and in a battle at Mount Gilboa, King Saul’s whole line of succession dies in front him and he pleads the other soldiers to kill him.

When David receives the news of the slaughter of King Saul and his lineage, he kills the man who killed King Saul and offers the former king and his successors a proper memorial service. Thus, here begins the reign of King Dorian. He gets his wife, Merab back from the man her father married her to with the help of a friend, causing her husband great grief. King David’s son turns the table on him and King David has to flee once again for his life. He comes came to rule Israel after his son’s death and name his other son, Solomon, the nest successor of his line.
